Best Freaking Jamaica Food in Hartford. I travel far just to get my fried chicken with veggies and rice with beans... Awesome customer services, always clean and very friendly atmosphere.

Great food, some of the best ox tails I've ever had. Beef patties are ok. Jerk Wings are amazing!! Service is good, you can tell it's someone's mom or grandma in the back cooking because it's hands down delicious. Pricing is reasonable for home cooked food. Ambience if good, love that they painted the building years back and gave it a nicer look. They have both street and onsite parking.

I'm reminded of the old adage don't judge a book by its cover. Little (mainly) take out place. Grab your delicious food and get out! There are a couple counter stools that's about it. They have great beef and chicken patties -slap those babies between some coco bread and it's heaven! I love their pulled pork. I get rice and peas and the cabbage:carrots which is all very very good. My daughter is a jerk chicken fan and she loves theirs so we both leave with our stash of goodies and head home to nosh. There's always enough for another meal or a big midnight snack!

Cute little restaurant! Service was quick and the food was delicious I have no complaints over here. I always get the same thing when I go out for Jamaican food (oxtail rice and pea) and I must say it's made it to my top 5 I would definitely recommend it to anyone who lives around the area!

Sun splash is a great Jamaican restaurant on the south end of Hartford. I went to this restaurant when it first opened a few years ago and felt it was just ok. I would still go out of my way to go back to the north end if I wanted Jamaican food. I recently started giving them another chance, however, and the food has been excellent. Jamaican beef patties in the states tend to have a thicker crust where the traditional patties on the island are softer and more pliable. The patties at Sun Splash mimic this more traditional Jamaican form and are delicious! I recently tried the jerk pork and it was scrumptious! Not too hot but very flavorful and the meat was super tender. The rice and peas and cabbage were fresh. I am now a huge fan of Sun Splash! They also have a full bar and grill/lounge down on Franklin Avenue.
